This project, co-organized with Hong Kong Education Bureau and Go.Asia, aims to foster food science, chemistry and nutrition knowledge to junior secondary school students, and arouse their interest towards science and healthy eating habits through the following activities:
1. The SciChef Semi-Final (January 17, 2015, Saturday) – This programme consists of (a) interactive lectures in the latest food science and nutrition knowledge given by our professors, (b) a live cooking demonstration by celebrity chefs, and (c) oral presentations of proposed recipes by participating teams. We received 87 teams from 28 different high schools to participate in the Challenge;
2. The SciChef Cooking Challenge (May 9, 2015, Saturday) – Finalists will have one hour of cooking time to unleash their creativity and prepare their masterpieces. They may incorporate the knowledge of food science and nutrition gained from the lectures and the feedback received from the judge panel on the Semi-Final.
